It’s never easy to lose someone you love, which is why a recent surprise meant so much to one local woman.
Lauren Murphy of Springville lost her father on Wednesday. She was simply heartbroken to say the least.
“Wednesday morning I received the sad news of my dad’s passing. We drove for two days from Picayune, MS with three kids (two of them being 7-month-old twins) to arrive back home to snowy Springville. Yesterday was probably the toughest day of my life to have to go through all of my dad’s belongings and not have him there to tell the amazing stories behind his things.”
But then on the way home, Murphy came across something beautiful. A Sweet Buffalo Rock that had the word “smile” on it.
“Last night while we were going out for dinner at the East End Cafe this was sitting on the windowsill at True Hardware on Main Street. When I was a little girl my dad would take my sister and I here almost every weekend so the irony of finding this rock sitting on the windowsill is quite reassuring! My dad wouldn’t want us to be sad and crying all this time. He would want us to smile and share happy memories of him. So whomever painted this rock, thank you! I took it and will keep it for the rest of my life and when I am down or miss my dad tremendously I will look at this rock and think that he may have played a part in your decision to leave it at this location for me to find!”
Murphy said she was so happy to find this rock at a time she needed it most. She will always cherish the memories she has with her dad.
“My dad was one of a kind! He was a very sweet man and said hello to anyone who passed him!”
