After learning little girl’s bike was stolen, strangers put their money together to get her a new one

When Stefan Mychajiliw learned a little girl was selling lemonade to earn money because her bike was stolen right from outside her home, he felt awful. He turned to Facebook to let everyone know what a remarkable little girl she is.

“Meet Abby. Some scumbag stole her brand new bike right in front of her house. She is selling lemonade to buy a new one. Every day after school. On Cleveland Drive in Cheektowaga. Corner of Birkdale. Come on WNY. Let’s get Abby a new set of wheels,” he said in his post.

Within just a few hours there was an outpouring of love for Abby, and a stranger, Howard Cadmus, owner of Sweet Jenny’s, offered to buy her a new one. But to make things even sweeter, Cadmus and Mychajiliw decided to surprise Abby together with two checks for $150 each for the purchase of a new Bert’s Bike.

“It seemed like the right thing to do,” said Cadmus after seeing the post. “Her whole family was very warm and sweet.”

We are so happy for you, Abby, and so very proud to live in the City of Good Neighbors! Great job, gentlemen!
