Buffalo Sabres visit patients at Roswell Park

As if we didn’t love the Buffalo Sabres enough, players on the team went to visit patients at Roswell Park Cancer Institute yesterday.

The Sabres team came to spread some cheer for the holidays – and it worked!

“So thankful for an incredible day yesterday. Jordan got to say hello to her favorite Sabres – Jason Pominville and Sabretooth,” said Tammi, mom of Jordan, a cancer survivor.

My brother was diagnosed with cancer, a neuroblastoma, when he was 21. He was given 6 months to live…… after 6 YEARS, Chad was coming to the end of his days. He loved the Sabers, Ryan Miller in particular… My parents and i got tickets to the game…. and without anyone in the family knowing, i blindly emailed the team. I told them Chad’s story…. i begged for a chance to meet Ryan… they couldn’t arrange a meeting on such short notice, but, during the first one-off of the game, several ushers brought to Chad, an autographed Ryan Miller jersey. It was such an amazing day. We had to leave before the game finished, Chad was too weak. But the memories will last forever……. as for that jersey? Chad wore it, even at home, for every game the sabres played. And when Chad passed away, we had him buried in that jersey. To this day, i cannot thank the sabres organization enough for all of their love and compassion.
