Beautiful Evelyn Maciag of Buffalo is only 7-months-old and fighting for her life. She has a very large brain tumor and needs everyone’s love and prayers.
Amy Leach, a family friend, says that Evelyn is Nick and Katie Maciag’s miracle baby. They experienced loss in pregnancy twice before and sweet Evelyn is all they could have ever hoped and prayed for. As can be imagined, the parents are terribly worried and haven’t left her side.
“Katie and Nick had to fight so hard to even have her. She is their world,” said Leach.
Evelyn will need multiple surgeries, radiation, and other treatments. She’s only a baby who hasn’t even taken her first steps, yet she’s stronger than most adults.
“The good news is Evelyn has been interacting more and has even smiled, sucked her thumb, and has been chewing on some toys,” said Leach. “Evelyn’s third tooth has just cut through the gum! She’s right on track for 8 months old! What a big girl!”
The community is rallying to help Evelyn and her family financially on Saturday, Aug. 26. A beer blast will be held 6 to 9 p.m. at Vinny’s Sports Bar, 2704 Clinton St., West Seneca. Tickets are $20 and will include draft beer and well drinks, basket raffles, and a 50/50 raffle.
