The Hamburg community is mourning the loss of a 5-year-old boy named James Walsh who passed away on Thanksgiving day after a tragic car accident. Residents are now being asked to wrap a blue ribbon around their tree to honor this sweet angel and to support his parents during this difficult time.

“In light of the recent tragedy affecting the Walsh family, members of the HHS Class of 2000 are asking Hamburg residents to come together in the spirit of sweet James and show support to his parents, Patrick and Kathryn. Please consider wrapping a tree in your front yard with a blue ribbon to signify all of us wrapping them in prayer, love, comfort and peace as they face the days and weeks ahead. While we can’t alleviate the pain of losing a child, we can show them we support them, we grieve with them, and we will help carry them and James’ beautiful sisters through this heartache. This tragedy could strike anyone at any time. If you have children of your own, remember that and help the Walsh’s heal by offering up a sign of solidarity as a fellow parent, supporting a grieving parent. Let’s come together in an attempt for Pat and Kathryn to feel the strength and prayers of our entire community.
