Hamburg woman distraught over loss of dog killed in hit and run just wants her orange collar back

It's a very sad time for a Hamburg woman whose dog, Kiera, was a victim to a hit and run and passed away yesterday. Kiera was sent to be cremated and as can be imagined, her owner, Nikki Lee, is heartbroken.

It’s a very sad time for a Hamburg woman whose dog, Kiera, was a victim to a hit and run and passed away yesterday. Kiera was sent to be cremated and as can be imagined, her owner, Nikki Lee, is heartbroken.

“She was my everything,” said Lee.

Kiera’s orange collar, the last thing she had on her and something that her owner would cherish now that she’s gone, is also nowhere to be found. Lee is now asking for the community’s help in finding it, so she will always have something to remember her beloved dog.

“I will never have closure and I will never understand or know what happened to my beautiful girl but please, I want her collar,” said Lee.

The dog was hit on the I-90 eastbound Ramp D in Hamburg. A plow truck driver found her and called for assistance. When asked where her collar was, he said he threw it out in the garbage at the I-90 east toll in Hamburg. Lee’s family and friends looked on the side of the road while inside their vehicles but didn’t see anything. She’s hoping someone else might.

“The collar is the last thing I have of hers that she had on her. It would mean the world to get it back,” said Lee.

If you see an orange collar near the Hamburg exit, please call or text 772-323-1677.
