Kidney finally becomes available for Buffalo man, but family is devastated when they find out it’s unusable

You may remember our coverage of a local mom who was desperate to find her son, Jason Batch, a kidney. She had a decal made for the back of her car that said “Please save my son” in the hopes that someone would. Well the family thought their dream had finally come true when they received a call that a kidney was ready and to get Jason to the hospital right away. Sadly, when they got there they received terrible news.

“Tuesday night we got the call for a kidney and when we got there they said the kidney was bad and had a mass on it so they could not do the transplant,” said Lynda Gibson, Jason’s mom. “We continue to stay on the list every day and I try to continue with faith each day that goes by.”

The family is now hosting a benefit for Jason in June to help with medical expenses and to show him they care.

“I want to make people aware of the benefit so everyone can pull together and show their support and if we don’t get a kidney in the time the benefit comes…with speakers being there maybe someone at the benefit could possibly be a match and save my son’s life,” she said.

A benefit for Jason Batch will be held 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 2 at St. Andrews RC Church, Kenmore. Tickets are $25 and includes food, beer, and pop. The event will feature door prizes, basket raffles and 50/50. For information on how you can donate a basket or purchase a ticket, call 716-939-6718 or reach out on Facebook.
