Labs being dumped around WNY, community asked to keep an eye out

A terrible thing is happening in WNY. Labradors are being dumped in different parts of the area and animal control is asking the community to keep an eye out.

According to a post made by Boston Animal Control on Facebook,18 labs have been found between the city of Buffalo, Boston, Orchard Park, and East Aurora in the last week and there may be more. They all appear to be four to six months old, are extremely fearful, and many have similar facial scarring.

If you find more, please call your local dog control officers right away to get them to safety. You may also call the SPCA’s Animal Cruelty Investigators at 716-875-7360  if you have any additional/helpful information.

Keep your eye out at the Buffalo Animal Shelter, Sadie’s Safe Harbor Rescue, and possibly other local rescue groups as well for adoption details after these pups get some much needed vetting, rehab, and love.

These dogs are suspected of being dumped from a dog fighting ring that were used as bait dogs. This is heartbreaking. Have they still been finding more as of today, June 4th?

Where are these beautiful labs being dumped (thank God). They finally will have a chance of being loved and taken care of.

To the monsters who are dumping these dogs after using them for your own personal gain- God help you because you’re going to need it.

From what I am reading, sounds like these Lab pups were used as bait dogs in dog fighting. They will need veterinarian care, need socialization, and a lot of patience to get them back to “normal”, but they should be very good, loyal pets. They deserve a second chance. Hopefully the dog ring owners will be found and prosecuted. Similar problem existed in Albany area. It is illegal and cruel to fight dogs.
