Who wouldn’t want to know about all the best places to visit in their community? With the new Discover 716 app, Western New York’s events and businesses are just a download away!
Discover 716 was created by Damian Spalla, a local business owner in Lockport. He himself wished to discover more of WNY and he thought what better way to do it than by creating a digital directory where users can locate places to eat, things to do, and businesses to check out. The free app, which already has more than 5,000 downloads since its launch in March, also includes coupons where users can save money at local establishments.
“Discover 716 gives everyone a chance to know what’s going on in their community,” said Spalla. “Whether it be checking out a restaurant you’ve never been to before, using a coupon for a massage at a local spa, or just taking the family to a local event; Discover 716 has you covered.”
Not only is the app a great tool for tourists and residents, said Spalla, it’s also a great way for businesses to advertise. Discover 716 includes a business address, phone number, website, and any specific promotion the business may request. Businesses range from real estate, liquor stores, gyms, helicopter tours, car shops, and more.
“There’s been a real surge in interest and businesses are growing and the city is growing in Buffalo and Niagara Falls,” said Spalla. “The Falls has done a great job with tourism during the last couple of days with Wallenda hanging from the helicopter and even besides that, the park is beautiful and the restaurants are great. Our goal is to highlight all of that in our app.”
And you can be sure Spalla will be doing some discovering of his own with the app. He’s made it his mission to attend as many events as he can and visit many places he hasn’t been to before so he can tell others more about it. He’s also giving away free water bottles at local festivals to anyone who downloads the app.
“I’m still creating the app every day and every day I think of something new. I’m learning a lot about what people like and how to keep businesses happy, but the best part is I’m discovering Western New York myself. I finally get to step out of my comfort zone and see what’s out there and share it with all of you.”
