It’s time to lace up your sneakers, fill your water bottles, and ready… set… go… as Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish hosts its fourth annual 5k race!
“It feels good to give back to a place that gives so much to us each week,” said Tim Marren, race organizer.
Marren and his sister-in-law, Courtney Donahue, are both avid runners and members of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish. When looking for a way to help raise funds for the parish, they decided what better way to contribute than to combine their passion for running with their love for OLC.
“Our Lady of Czestochowa is an extension of our family and it’s all for a good cause,” said Marren.
The 5k run will take place 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, the feast day of Our Lady of Czestochowa. A one-mile fun walk is also included so that families and children that don’t wish to run can also participate. The race/walk will start and finish next to the church, 626 Oliver Street, North Tonawanda. Everyone that runs or walks will receive a food voucher and awards will be presented to various age groups. All-in-all it’s sure to be an event filled with excitement, fun, and exercise.
The cost to register for the annual 5k race is $23 for pre-registration and $25 for registering the day of. The one-mile fun walk is $16 per person and $45 for a family of four. Each participant (runners and walkers) will receive a participation packet which includes an official event water bottle, food voucher, beverage voucher, and a raffle ticket for the opportunity to win some great post-race prizes. All ages and skill levels are welcome to join in the fun in support of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish!
