Russell Salvatore, local philanthropist and owner of Russell’s Steaks, Chops & More, recently donated $25,000 to support American Red Cross Blood Services. His donation will help Red Cross volunteers transport donated blood to Western New York hospitals.
The check was presented to the American Red Cross on Friday, May 26 at a ceremony outside of the restaurant. The safe transportation of donated blood is vital to save lives as the blood has a limited shelf life. The Red Cross made more than 1,800 trips and logged over 214,000 miles delivering blood to area hospitals and transporting just-donated blood to be processed in Henrietta, NY last year. Now with Salvatore’s donation, Red Cross volunteers can continue their mission.
