Volunteers deliver more than 100 Christmas stockings to elderly and disabled in Tonawanda

In the spirit of giving this holiday season, volunteers from the City of Tonawanda filled more than 100 stockings with goodies to give to the elderly and disabled at Tonawanda Towers yesterday.

In the spirit of giving this holiday season, volunteers from the City of Tonawanda filled more than 100 stockings with goodies to give to the elderly and disabled at Tonawanda Towers yesterday.

A few weeks ago, Janice Khreis Shea asked about giving stockings out to others in the community. Tonawanda Council President Jenna Koch and fellow residents thought this was a great idea and  helped put the wheels in motion.

“This is one of the 1,001 reasons why I love our community. Our neighbors thinking of our neighbors, wanting to give back, and wanting to make others smile. Seeing the joy on their faces as they opened up their stockings was absolutely priceless! This is what Christmas is all about,” said Koch.

Koch would like to thank Janice Shea, Chris, and Don Zak for helping to organize the effort.

The stockings were made possible by generous donations from:

Chris-Don Zack and Zack of all Trades
Boulevard Prouduce
School Board President, Heather Sternin
Mayor, Rick Davis
Kathryn Kosiak
Mike Barry
Samantha Muscato
Brooke Benn
The Dockside
Skip and Betty Johnson
Evelyn Balcom-Zupo
Erin Kinmartin
and the Koch family.
