Williamsville waitress pays for family’s lunch after learning boy at table is fighting cancer

A Williamsville waitress knew she had to do something kind when a very special family sat in her section today.

A local waitress knew she had to do something kind when a very special family sat in her section today.

Marissa Lewecki, a waitress at Applebees on Transit Road, paid for a mother and son’s lunch after learning that the boy was fighting cancer.

“The little things we take for granted other people are so grateful for. Today a sick boy wearing a face mask and his mom (all decked out in cancer sucks gear) came to Applebees for lunch. It made me think about all the medical bills they probably have and how precious their time together was enjoying lunch. The last thing they needed to worry about was another bill. I’ll never forget the face on that little boy when I told him and his mom they were all set and lunch was on me today. I’ll also never forgot that amazing hug he gave me before they left either.”

Lewecki says she just wanted to do something nice for someone in need of a smile. Instead of going out to eat like she usually does, she was happy to pay for this deserving family’s meal instead.

“Something I did that was so simple and took really
no effort made someone’s day and made them really happy. That means the world to me,” she said.
