Woman leaves inspirational rocks in wedding dresses with pockets to bring smiles to WNY brides

A local woman has been making brides smile all over Western New York, but now she needs our help making her smile.

If you’ve found a painted rock while trying on a wedding dress recently, there’s a reason behind it.

Mindy Mancuso, a consultant at David’s Bridal, has been putting inspirational wedding themed Sweet Buffalo Rocks in wedding dresses that have pockets in them at the boutique. Her aunt says she just loves to spread happiness and this was a fun way to do it.

“Mindy is passionate about her job as a bridal consultant, always puts her all into giving the brides to be and their bridal attendants lots of attention and uses her creativity too to help them get the look they want for their wedding attire,” said Eileen Dorgan Matthews. “Right after Christmas, gearing up for the big January bridal sales, she asked me to make her some wedding themed Sweet Buffalo Rocks because she had a great idea for them. I made her a batch, it was fun painting them with the theme of love, marriage, and wedding vows.”

Now local brides are finding them all over and getting so excited, saying their dress is meant to be.

“I found this in the pocket of what turned out to be my wedding dress,” said Stefanie Ecker, bride. “I took it as a clear sign.”

Eileen said her niece was so excited to see who would find them and what their reaction would be. But sadly, the woman who finds joy in putting smiles on other’s faces isn’t doing so well. Mindy came down with the flu and she hasn’t been the same since. She was admitted to the hospital after developing Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome, a very serious condition. She has been in the ICU on a ventilator since March 2, first at Millard Fillmore Suburban and now Buffalo General.

“It has been over a month now that Mindy has been on a ventilator and mostly not able to respond due to the sedating medications they have to give her. It is a very difficult and rocky road to recovery, she has suffered some complications and setbacks. She could use your good wishes and prayers,” said Matthews.

Since Mindy did such a great job spreading happiness, let’s spread some to her. Cards can be sent to Melinda Rose c/o Vince’s Pizza Plus 1803 Kenmore Ave, Kenmore, NY 14217. Sweet Buffalo Rocks can also be dropped off to the pizzeria or at David’s Bridal on Niagara Falls Boulevard in Tonawanda to cheer her up. Just let employees know they are for Mindy. Mindy’s mom came up with this nice idea and says the painted rocks can be put in Mindy’s garden when she’s feeling well again.

“No one would ever think the flu could so quickly turn into something so life threatening. Her whole family has been rallying around to support her and each other. We would also appreciate your good vibes and prayers sent out for Mindy, to heal her lungs and get her back to her kids, to her home, to her job, to her life,” said Eileen.
