Sarah is a 9-year-old girl from Buffalo, N.Y. who has been battling a rare undiagnosed life-threatening syndrome her entire life. It has affected her eyes, intestinal tract, kidneys, bladder, and her nervous system. Her source of nutrition is through a permanent IV catheter as she is unable to eat or drink anything by mouth. She is severely visually impaired due to the effect the disease has had on the lens, cornea, and retina. The strength and the mobility of her hands and her feet are affected as well. Yet, despite the serious nature of her medical problems, the rigorous day-to-day routine to keep her functioning, the surgeries, hospitalizations, and the countless doctor appointments not once has Sarah said, “why me?”
Sarah loves Shawn Mendes and has used his music for years to distract her from painful anxiety ridden experiences that have become a routine part of her life. He has no idea that his music has provided her with more comfort at times than her family could. Her family is asking that you help make Sarah’s dream come true – meeting and thanking Shawn in person at his concert in Boston on Aug. 15.
