When Michael Mitri purchased his 1973 Volkswagen Westfalia camper from a dealership 17 years ago, he didn’t know what was in store for the future. All he knew was an elderly woman that just lost her husband had to give the vehicle back to the dealership and he wanted to make sure she knew that he was going to take very good care of it.
“I actually found paperwork in the glove box and I drove to her house to let her know it was in good hands,” said Mitri. “I could tell her husband took very good care of it, too, because the garage was immaculate and she said they only drove it to Sherkston once a year.”
Now the Volkswagen bus that brought joy to two gentlemen now brings joy to many under its new name, Buffalove Bus. Mitri took his love for the vehicle and turned it into something positive. The Buffalove Bus is now a photo booth bus that has the ability to take fun photo booth photos anywhere in WNY.
“The Buffalove Bus combines three of my favorite things in life,” said Mitri. “Driving the bus, taking photographs, and making people happy.”
While its only been a short while since the Buffalove bus has been in operation, Mitri says his orange Volkswagen has received a great response from the community. Even police officers have offered to help give Mitri’s bus a good parking spot and businesses have offered extension chords to help power the bus.
“Everyone has been really supportive and the thing about photo booths is they always make people smile. There’s always laughter coming out and you can’t go into a photo booth sad,” said Mitri.
The cool thing about the Buffalove Bus is its never been restored. Mitri has only had to maintain this beautiful vehicle over the years.
