Hundreds of cards, gifts from all over United States sent to healthcare workers in Rochester

So this is a story we all need to read right now. A hospital in Rochester has received hundreds of cards and gifts from people all over the United States who wanted to show they cared!

It all started when Amanda Campe, a nurse manager at Strong Hospital, put out a call to an arts and crafts Facebook group she belongs to. She was trying to come up with ways to boost her staff’s morale to help bring a smile to their faces during the pandemic. Now people from 25 cities in the United Stares have reached out through social media and are sending cards.

Amanda’s husband, Stephen Campe, posted on Facebook that when Amanda comes home tired or sad because they had to FaceTime a dying patient’s family so they could say goodbye, she checks the mail and there are 30 cards and several care packages for her to to give to staff.

Some people have also sent specific packages for housekeeping and custodial staff, which Amanda’s husband says is awesome because they are sometimes forgotten.

“A lot of people are sending Amanda personalized cards because they have her name and address just to say thank you, along with the other 20 cards they sent for her staff,” said Stephen. “It’s awesome!”
