Last week we posted a story about a family who was planning the best birthday ever for their son, Preston, who is autistic. He was turning 13 and he never wanted a birthday party until a few weeks ago when he asked his parents for one. They had to break the news to him that this wasn’t possible due to COVID-19, so they figured out a way to surprise him!
Preston loves dogs, so his dad made a post on Facebook looking for any of his friends who wouldn’t mind driving by with a dog in their car. We posted a story on Sweet Buffalo, which got a lot of attention, too, and before anyone knew it hundreds of cars had signed up to participate in the dog parade that happened today!
“It was the best birthday I ever had. I don’t know how it could get better,” said Preston.
“He was blown away,” said Preston’s mom.
Preston’s dad, Gary, said he is grateful to everyone in the community who participated, calling the response “mindboggling.”
“My family and I are overwhelmed at the outpouring of love, kindness, and positivity that we saw tonight,” he said.
From the photos we’ve been sent, it looks like the dogs enjoyed it, too! Happy birthday, Preston! ❤️
