When Marie Regan, owner of Bel Viso Skin Studio in Williamsville, asked me to review her business in return for a complimentary jet clear microdermabrasion facial, I was more than elated. I honestly had no idea what that facial was at the time, I just knew it sounded amazing.
I was about to find out just how amazing.
As soon as I walked into Bel Viso Skin Studio, I felt relaxed. The pleasant purple color on the walls, the butterfly design near the Bel Viso logo, and a cheerful smile from Regan herself made me feel at home.
Regan handed me a form to fill out with a quick questionnaire that asked me to share my skin history. Once Marie had all of my information, she sat down next to me to discuss what Bel Viso Skin Studio was really all about. Marie opened her business two years ago after her supportive husband encouraged her to fulfill her dreams. And after attending a four month full-time course to receive her esthetic’s license, Regan was determined to help others achieve their skin care goals. She also participates in regular online classes and webinars to keep up with the changing skin care times.
“I want to be the best in Buffalo,” said Regan. “I want to be the name that people know is synonymous with good skin care.”
Suffering from acne in both her teenage and adult years, Regan knows exactly how frustrating bad skin can be. She says it’s her job to make her clients feel comfortable in knowing that they are not alone in their struggle.
“Your face is the first thing people see and that’s where people get very self conscious, so I will talk to them about my journey,” she said.
Using her talents and education, Regan knows exactly how to treat all types of skin problems. I’ve never had a facial in my entire life, which is why she recommended the jet clear microdermabrasion facial, a facial that is beneficial for all skins types, including combination skin like mine.
After chatting for a while and learning the ins and outs of Regan’s business, it was time for my facial. She walked me into a gorgeous dimly lit room with white curtains, a nice reclining chair, and a soft, warm blanket and headrest. She gave me the option of lying atop the blanket or under it and of course I chose under it so I could be nice and toasty.
Regan went through the entire process with me as she gave me my facial. It was so relaxing and calming in the studio with modern music being played throughout. Regan also has a very soothing tone to her voice, so when she spoke to me it enhanced the facial even more. She told me that she can feel out her client’s personalities to see if they want to chat or not. If she sees a client dosing off, she allows them to relax and stay asleep during the experience.
My favorite part of the facial thus far was the milk based portion. The lotion was so cooling on my face and she referenced it to Cleopatra and her milk baths that kept her skin looking youthful. Milk moisturizes, hydrates, and nourishes the skin.
Now it was time for the microdermabrasion part of the session. Regan explained that the tool she would use is like a pressure washer. My face was literally being pressure washed into new and youthful skin. And it was so gentle. The water was very cool and I especially liked it when she used it under my eyes. It was absolutely painless, so I didn’t feel a thing except happiness because I had a feeling I would look and feel awesome after she was done.
The next portion she told me she would be using a roller to apply a serum to my face. She said the roller helps the skin absorb the serum better than it would if you were to just rub it on your face. The roller was very relaxing and enjoyable. It was like a massage for my face.
The facial was over and I have to say, I didn’t want it to be. I enjoyed every single second of it and I will definitely do it again. Every time I look in the mirror now I see a more youthful person, especially under my eyes. My fine lines have disappeared dramatically and I feel much more confident when I smile now. The experience was amazing and so is Regan who took the time to show this writer what pampering is really all about.
