It was a heartwarming day for Heather Mancuso, a North Tonawanda resident who recently went on a mission to find her father’s biological family. Today she was able to meet his siblings – her aunt and uncle!
“They are wonderful, wonderful people and I can’t wait to get to know them. My uncle looked at me with tears in his eyes and said, ‘I feel like I know you. Like I knew you before today. It’s strange, but I do.'”
Mancuso called her dad, who lives in Florida and couldn’t make it to this occasion, on the way home from the meeting in Batavia and told him how things went. But she says she kept all the neat stuff she learned about him a secret because she wants him to find out for himself from his brother and sister.
“I think my dad is going to love them. I think they are going to love my dad. At one point, my uncle looks over at my aunt and says, ‘I can’t believe we have a baby brother!'”
A beautiful reunion indeed for a daughter who just wanted to find the missing piece to her life, and her dad’s.
“I have waited my entire adult life for a moment like today. They are just as happy to call me family as I am to say the same. I’m on top of the world.”
