The Saturn Club in Buffalo was “pinked-out” this afternoon. More than 70 participants gathered for a special power-yoga session to raise awareness and funding for breast cancer, all while relaxing their bodies and their minds.
“What an incredibly moving and fun event,” said Liz Kahn, Executive Director of Susan G. Komen Upstate New York. “I think it was one of the most beautiful places in Western New York to practice yoga, and the Saturn Club and Power Yoga Buffalo staff all worked very hard to make it a fantastic time for everyone! There was just a wonderful mix of music, passion and power. Komen is very grateful for the generosity of everyone involved.”
With three studios in the area, Power Yoga Buffalo’s style of teaching is based on the Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga system. Combined with up-beat, energetic instructors, the practice emphasizes breath, flow and heat. Many PYB instructors volunteered their time this afternoon to help teach yoga to those who attended.
“It was an amazing event for a great cause. To see the yoga community show up the way they did today is truly inspiring and makes me proud to be part of Power Yoga Buffalo community,” said John Hastings, an instructor at PYP. “Thank you to the Saturn Club, Susan G Komen Foundation and all the individuals and local businesses who graciously donated to Pink Out The Planet.”
This year was first time that Pink Out The Planet was held and close to $2,500 was raised. All proceeds benefited Susan G. Komen Upstate New York, which funds community breast health and breast cancer programs, as well as research to prevent and cure breast cancer.
