Sweet Buffalo had the pleasure of seeing the World’s Largest Rubber Duck at Canalside Buffalo today and what an amazing experience it was!
You may think we are only impressed because there was a giant rubber duck (six stories high and weighing 11 tons) in our waters, but that’s not true. What we are really impressed with are the efforts Canalside has made to show what a wonderful city Buffalo truly is. Hundreds of smiling faces were seen as family and friends walked around Canalside to enjoy their day. Children played in the very large sandbox, families enjoyed lunch at various food stands, and folks had fun kayaking. This is exactly what the City of Buffalo needed and we are so grateful to everyone that made it happen.
Funny enough, the first person we interviewed about the duck happened to be a tourist from Ohio who came to Buffalo to try our food and check out everything we have to offer! See, we’re bringing in tourists! #buffaloisbooming
Now, back to the duck. “Mama Duck” is part of Canalside’s Maritime Festival and she is just too cool. She brightened up everyone’s day just by staying plopped in the water. She doesn’t quack or anything, but she is great at taking selfies with you. She will be here until 5 p.m. on Aug. 28, so be sure to check her out. There are also vendors nearby selling lemonade, ducks, and Buffalove t-shirts, so be sure to carry some cash because we were sad we didn’t!
