West Seneca grandma sends back more than 500 letters to kids from ‘Santa Claus’

For the past month, West Seneca resident Roxann Gaghich has been up to something very special. Outside of her home is a beautifully painted red mailbox that reads Letters to Santa. Parents were encouraged to have their children drop a letter to Santa with a return address and Gaghich said she’d be sure to write them back. Well this year she received more than 500 letters and she made sure to write back to each and every one that had an address!

“Santa Mailbox is officially completed for 2019. There were 532 letters dropped off and 520 answered. The 12 did not have return addresses. I hope the children were as excited to get them as I was to make it possible. Thank you to everyone that dropped off stamps, stickers and candy canes. There were a few that even dropped off money. There was absolutely no need to do that, but thank you very much. I will use some for new books for Grandma Roxann’s Little Free Library and some for food for the West Seneca Food Pantry. Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Always be kind to each other. We are all in this together.”

We asked Gahich what her favorite letter was and she said she couldn’t possibly choose between all of the beautiful letters. Follow Grandma Roxann’s Little Free Library on Facebook to take part next year! www.facebook.com/grandmaroxannslfl/
