After owner goes into nursing home, 12-year-old ‘special’ cat in need of a home

Smokey Bear is a 12-year-old cat who had to be surrendered with some fur siblings when their owner had to go into a nursing home. She is currently at Pinewoods Animal Hospital in North Tonawanda.

Kaitlin Urban, an employee at the hospital, says Smokey Bear is so sweet and affectionate and just wants someone to love on her.

“Anytime someone approaches her cage, she immediately squeaks with excitement,” said Urban. “But she’s definitely sad in the cage and really needs a home and a person (or family) to give her as much love as she has to give. Everyone at Pine Woods loves her and wants to see her go to someone who isn’t scared of adopting an older cat.

If you’re interested in meeting Smokey Bear, you can stop in Pinewoods, located at 570 Robinson St. in NT, during regular business hours. Adoption is through Niagara SPCA.
