If you’ve received a bouquet of flowers on your car recently, you may be surprised to find out who did it.
Five-year-old Leyla and her 3-year-old brother, Zane, are “sprinkling kindness” once a week in the hopes that others will do the same. Each week they will do an act of kindness to make someone smile and leave a note attached that says “sprinkle kindness, we are here to make you smile.” Last week the siblings left beautiful flowers on cars as their first act of kindness.
“‘My daughter was so overjoyed with giving flowers that she had happy tears in her eyes,” said Nuska Hadzic Switzer, who helped her children start Sprinkle Kindness 716. The Amherst mom says it’s crucial for children to learn about kindness at a young age and she hopes others will join in on their mission as well.
“It is important to us to teach our children about kindness and compassion while building their confidence. We want them to understand early on in life that they have an impact on the world. We want them to feel the power and joy of giving,” she said.
So how do you participate? Well all you have to do is send Sprinkle Kindness 716 a message on Facebook to receive a free card to put with your random act of kindness. The hope is that Leyla and Zane’s good deeds will create a ripple effect around WNY.
“We want to do our part in making the world a better place one smile at a time. If we can make someone’s day a little brighter and happier we have accomplished our goal. We hope that our random acts of kindness create a ripple effect and inspire others to do the same. Imagine if we all sprinkled a little kindness? It would set the world in the right direction!”
