Christine Benedyk was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogeneous Leukemia (CML) at the young age of 17. When teens are supposed to be worrying about what they will wear to prom and what college they will be going to – Christine (Chrissy) has had to fight the awful disease that is cancer.
Chrissy’s life isn’t an easy one. She will require oral chemotherapy for the rest of her life and other treatments. The young woman can’t go a day without feeling tired and she also suffers from seizures, depression, PTSD, and panic attacks. These symptoms make it very difficult for Chrissy to enjoy social situations or to do normal things like driving a car. She is currently being cared for by her mom and the medical expenses have added up. Family and friends are planning a benefit for Chrissy to be held 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7 at Dom Polski club in North Tonawanda.
Tickets are $20. If you’re interested in purchasing a ticket or would like to help, call Donna Benedyk at 435-0769 or email dbenedyk@roadrunner.com, or Kayla Laskowski at 716-270-3800 or email klaskowski2@msn.com.
