Benefit to be held for local 1-year-old fighting aggressive brain tumor

Last year was a terrible time for a local family who found out their son has a very rare and aggressive form of brain cancer.

Odin Manning-Utter of Barker is not even 2 years old and he’s already had surgery to remove a tumor from his brain. Fortunately it was successful, but he still has to undergo chemotherapy at Strong Memorial Hospital and radiation at Roswell in Buffalo. The poor little guy who loves coloring, dinosaurs, dancing and music hasn’t been able to enjoy much of these things lately.

“He is such a sweet boy,” said Jessica Jordan, aunt. “Absolutely loves his brother and sister, Elijah and Iliana. His favorite thing ever is finding Nemo.”

The Manning Family lives on a farm and they have pigs and chickens. Odin is an outdoors kind of kid and he hates doctors and nurses, but who could blame him?

“Even after everything he’s been through he’s still such a happy little boy. Even on his terrible days, he’s still excited to see his brother and sister get off the bus. He doesn’t see much of the public or extended family. We have to be extra careful to not expose him to germs and viruses. With his weakened immune system one sickness could easily kill him,” said Jordan.

A benefit will be held 1 p.m. March 10 at Allie Brandt Lanes, 6510 Lincoln Ave., Lockport. There will be a basket raffle, 50/50 raffles, and a bowling tournament. Come bowl a few games or enjoy a basket raffle.

If anyone would like to make a basket, donation or keep Odin in your prayers, the family would greatly appreciate it. Call Jessica at 716-628-1082 for donation pick up or questions.

You may also make a donation here: www.gofundme.com/help-baby-odin  or at Hillman’s Martial Arts Center in Lockport.

Money raised will go towards living and travel expenses to help Odin’s parents stay by his side at all times.
