A friend of mine shared this blissful photo of her daughter Delaney and their pit bull, Gauge. With all of the stereotypical labels and negativity that surrounds the pit bull breed, we thought it was important to share Gauge’s story with you in the hopes of raising awareness of their truly kind and loving demeanor.
“My pit bull’s name is Gauge. I’ve had him since he was two and he is now 14 years old. He has always been a very calm, loving, and obedient dog. Never would harm a fly. We used to take him to the beach before we had kids, and he would always get along and play with every dog. It was funny because my husband and I would always laugh when the little dogs were snippy with him because he was always so submissive towards them. (Big mean pitbull, right?)
When we brought our first daughter home he accepted her into the family right away. Now we have two girls, and a little boy on the way. He loves the kids… they can do anything to him… right down to putting hair product on him, and making him glamorous.
He sleeps with my oldest daughter every single night. Let’s put it this way, wherever the girls are Gauge is not far behind. We couldn’t have been more blessed with such a loving, and loyal dog.”
Pit bulls are one of the most difficult breeds to get placed into adoption. Hopefully these photos and Gauge’s story will make you rethink any prejudices because life without a pit bull is really no life at all. 🙂
Big thank you to Megan Poma Photography LLC for these amazing photos.
