The Buffalo Zoo has some amazing news! The one-horned rhino, Tashi, is pregnant through yet another successful artificial insemination! She is expected to give birth in summer 2019.
The father is a male rhino named Suru who lives at Zoo Miami in Florida. Norah Fletchell, president and CEO at the zoo says she hopes Tashi makes it to full-term. The last rhino who was successful inseminated, Monica, now lives at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park where she is part of a breeding program to see that these animals do not become extinct.
“Together with our partners, we are doing everything we can to save these critically threatened species,” said Fletchell.
