Easter weekend is supposed to be a time for celebration, but for one Buffalo mom it was her worst nightmare.
On Saturday night, Ashley Bass was walking to her car in a parking garage and witnessed two men breaking into her vehicle. She was then attacked, mugged, and both of her legs were broken.
Bass was rushed to Buffalo General and had emergency surgery Sunday…not the Easter she had planned with her two children.
Her story is heartbreaking, but the good news is people want to help. Bass is a server at a hotel in Williamsville. Unfortunately she hasn’t been there long enough to receive any compensation from FMLA, so her boss has created a GoFundMe page to raise money for her while she is out, which could be a long time.
“Ashley is such a hard worker, always going above and beyond for anyone. Despite what she may have going on in life, being a single mom, she never complains and always has a bright smile for everyone. Without being able to take the time off with FMLA benefits, I want her to be able to heal without financial stress,” said Karen Oleszak.
