Thinking of popping the question this holiday season?
It might be hard to top one Western New York man’s efforts to surprise his significant other.
David of Buffalo set the bar high. His fiancée, Elizabeth received the dream proposal back in October. Take a look.
This gorgeous backdrop is from a Western New York park, an area off the beaten path.
“My friends and I spent most of the 6-month planning process visiting trees in different parks surrounding Western New York, looking for the perfect one in an isolated enough area for a romantic moment,” David exclaims.
Half a year to plan? Yes, that’s right.
His success was in the details. He enlisted two friends to help him pull it all off.
“We needed a way to hang light from the perfect tree. Actual candles would be a fire hazard, so I spent a good amount of time on Pinterest. There, I came across mason jar lanterns, where I could put a small LED tea light in each jar and hang it from the tree using jute twine. This is simple enough, but I wanted to add complexity to the scene.”
He decorated the jars with gold and gloss spray paint, as well as lace and burlap, creating a rustic wonderland.
“I wanted to surround Elizabeth with love and emotion, not just 100 mason jars,” David says.
The jars didn’t just contain tea lights – David took it a step further and asked loved ones to create personal messages to Elizabeth. Those notes of love were included inside the jars.
A message from her mom, which looked more like a time capsule of Elizabeth’s childhood, and a memorial jar created by her sister to keep the memory of passed loved ones alive.
“I learned a lot about how much people around Elizabeth loved her.”
So what does Elizabeth have to say about her relationship with David and the secret to perfect love?
“Be with someone who makes you feel like you have butterflies even though you’ve been together for years,” she says.
We wish nothing but happiness to this beautiful couple as they plan their upcoming ‘I Dos’.
And yes ladies, it is okay to be a little jealous of this epic proposal.
