A local couple endured a devastating loss on Christmas Eve. Sydney and Tony Mastrangelo lost their first child when Sydney was 13 weeks pregnant.
“We struggled to grieve and we were very angry,” said Sydney. “We did a lot of thinking, talking and digging about our lives. We decided that we wanted to take our anger and sadness and turn it into hope for another family.”
And so they did. For the past several weeks Sydney and Tony have been working tirelessly to raise funds for Make-A-Wish WNY, a cause they care about dearly. The couple decided to volunteer for Make A Wish WNY and become wish heroes.
A wish hero commits to raise $1,000 and the Mastrangelos are almost at $7,000!
“We have set a new ambitious goal of $10,000! We are hoping to be able to grant a wish to a child in WNY when we hit our goal of $10,000. We have partnered with 20 businesses in WNY who have graciously decided to donate a portion of their proceeds during the month of April to our fund. In a time where businesses are struggling, they’re proving that Buffalo really is the city of good neighbors,” said Sydney.
The businesses who have been participating are:
Talestry Charter School, Michael’s Florist, MAC Fitness, Pocketeer Billiards, Razors Edge Barbershop, Just Pizza in Amherst, Bikeorbar, Market in the Square, Greek on the Street, Deep South Taco, Impressions Scalp Micropgimentation, 2480 Autos, Metro by T-Mobile on Union Road in Cheektowaga, Grand Island Fun Center, Shell Fab Countertops, Neth & Son Roofing, Hollywood Emporium, Yamastay Mobile Massage, Pubski Pub, Graziano’s Hair Studio, Pink Cow Ice Cream, Body Bar, Fresh Boutique and The Grapevine.
“My husband and I’s goal is to bring joy and hope to one family who may be living in fear and anger like we were,” said Sydney.
Thank you to all the WNY businesses who stepped up to help an amazing cause!
