Sweet Buffalo Rockers came out from all over Western New York today to support TJ Ackley, 10, of Alden, who is battling terminal cancer. For weeks, members of the group have been painting more than 400 rocks and collected more than 60 baskets to raise money for TJ and his family. Today their Rockin’ Easter Egg Hunt event, held at Harlem Road Park in West Seneca, was a huge success, raising $2,077 for the family.
Laurie Ehlenfield, Dave Schultz, Tabitha Zwolenkiewicz, Kaitlin Pietrzac, Ryan Chapman, and Chris and Christine Maussner, all say it was their pleasure to put on such an event and they hope to do it again in the near future. Within 20 minutes, more than 400 painted rocks were spoken for and found by happy children and their families. It’s really quite an incredible accomplishment, but Ehlenfield says it’s all for the kids.
“If anyone asks why we do it, this picture says it all,” said Ehlenfield.
Stay tuned for more Sweet Buffalo Rocks events to come.
