Susan Kurek sadly lost her son, Paul, when he was only 5 years old.
“You learn to live with the pain, but you don’t ever forget and birthdays are really hard,” she said.
Paul would have been 41 years old tomorrow, so when she found a cardinal ornament at Burchfield Nature Park today she was absolutely moved.
“I would like to thank whoever hung the cardinal ornament at Burchfield because you did if for me. I really needed to see this today.”
And then the amazing happened… Kurek saw a real cardinal. Just like the tag said on the ornament she found, “they say when cardinals appear, angels are near.”
“As long as I have been visiting Burchfield I have never seen a cardinal. I truly feel that I had a visit with my son. I’m so glad I went.”
Kurek says she is at a loss for words for the sighting, but said, “maybe it was a miracle.”
