A local woman is on a mission to find a cat she’s become very fond of a good home.
Eileen Dorgan Matthews of Western New York met a cat named Zoey a few summers ago. She was abandoned by her owners and left to fend for herself.
“She was hungry and we gave her food so she wouldn’t starve. Timid at first, she quickly started responding to us. She liked to be petted and talked to and was very happy to run in our yard and nap in a lounge chair on our deck. She was an outdoor cat, and we provided food, some shelter, and love and attention. Knowing no one else was caring for her, we started giving her monthly flea prevention drops.”
When winter came, the family let Zoey spend the coldest nights inside even though Matthews suffers from allergies. This past spring and summer, Zoey roamed the neighborhoods, ate on the deck, and enjoyed her time in the great outdoors.
“She’d come running with a meowing purr greeting when we came out the door and would always be by our sides when gardening or doing yard work,” said Matthews.
But now Matthews is taking a trip soon and her allergies are getting worse. She wants to make sure her friend, Zoey, has a good home before she leaves.
“There really is no sweeter cat. And so cute, she even has a heart shape on her side in the tabby pattern of her fur,” she said. “We are looking to re-home Zoey because she deserves better than what she has now.”
