A local mom was overwhelmed with a recent act of kindness she received at Children’s Hospital in Buffalo. While going to visit her baby boy, Sebastian, who was born early at only 24 weeks on Feb. 1, Krista Broadhead received a surprise handmade baby blanket from a parent whose daughter was next door.
“I wasn’t expecting something like that from another NICU parent,” said Broadhead.
The beautiful elephant blanket had a little tag on it that said “From the Gebel Family next door (now home).”
“I’m guessing her daughter was born early, too, but I don’t know how early because the nurse couldn’t tell me that information,” she said.
Broadhead said the kind gesture was a breath of fresh air at a time she needed it most. She has two other young children at home and has to drive two hours to see Sebastian. Today was actually the first day she was able to hold him.
“I’m just so grateful. I hope that this post gets to you so hopefully I can thank you in person. I hope your baby girl is doing amazing,” she said.
