Bentley Hayden, a 3-year-old from Buffalo, is incredibly brave. After battling cancer at only 2-years-old, his family found out shortly after his third birthday the cancer had relapsed in his skull. He is currently in New York City receiving treatment.
“MIBG therapy is finished now to stare at a lead wall for three days while Bent keeps saying ‘Moommmm.’ I hope this kills all his neuroblastoma cells…. goodbye cancer,” said Krystal Hayden, Bentley’s mom, in a Facebook post.
Bentley’s mom is also brave. She stays by her son’s side no matter what. Right now the little guy has to be separated from his mom by a lead wall due to the radiation treatment he is receiving. But Bentley smiles knowing she’s close.
“They made it so I can stay with him at all times to help with anxiety,” said Hayden. “I said if my son can have extremely high doses, so can I. For now I have to stay behind this wall and when I need to go near him I have to wear gloves.”
After the therapy treatment is finished Bentley gets to come home for a few weeks to relax with his family, a home he cherishes because it means he doesn’t have to be at the hospital during that time.
The Dave Matthews Tribute Band will be donating a portion of their show proceeds to Bentley on Saturday, March 17 at the Ebenezer Ale House Party in the Southtowns. Gates open at 1 p.m.
“We want to let Bentley know that we are in total support and amazement while he continues to defeat this.”
