In a recent episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Fallon thanked the audience for the love and support of losing one of the most important people in his life, his mother. But what he said next made us all cry.
Fallon described his mom as his best audience and then he told a story that was beyond beautiful. He said whenever his mom would walk him and his sister to the store, she would squeeze their hands three times and say “I love you.”
So when Jimmy went to see his mom in the hospital he squeezed her hand three times and said, “I love you.”
This touched my heart in so many ways because my mother always squeezed my hand to say “I love you” when we were somewhere we had to be quiet and couldn’t say it out loud. Whenever she wanted to say it to me she just squeezed my hand really tight and I always knew what that meant. To think how much Fallon loved his mom, the way I love mine, really broke my heart that she’s no longer here.
At the end of his tribute, he thanked the audience again for their support during this difficult time.
“Thank you for watching. Thank you for helping my family recover from this loss. Mom, I’ll never stop trying to make you laugh. I love you,” said Fallon as he squeezed his hand three times.
