Stella Reid, 9, of Williamsville, is a beautiful little girl with a wonderful heart.
“She is a happy, happy little girl. An absolutely joy,” said Robin Kelly, Stella’s grandma.
But Stella hasn’t had an easy life. She’s had more illnesses than her grandma can count including a seizure disorder, tremors, diabetes, and vision loss. She has trouble walking and has to use a walker to get around as well.
“She’s been sick since she was a newborn and unfortunately we’re always waiting for the next shoe to fall,” said Kelly.
However, even with all of these afflictions, Kelly says her granddaughter, a third grader at Maple West, doesn’t let her illness take her smile away – which is why Santa Claus made a special visit to her house to surprise her today.
LJ Grand Livery Stables owner, Lauralee Sibiga, and Jay Andrews of Springville coordinated the effort. Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived on a sleigh of horses with presents for sweet Stella right in front of her home. Santa also had presents for Stella’s siblings.
“To think that people who don’t even know you would do something like this for someone to improve their life…. I feel like I owe them, but some things can’t be paid back, ever,” said Kelly.
After giving Stella all of her presents, Santa picked her up and put her in the sleigh for a ride around town.
“When he bent down and picked her up, I said, ‘Oh, my God. Santa is carrying her. She was thrilled. She can’t stop talking about it,” exclaimed Kelly.
