Alex DeSantis, a WNY native turned New York City girl, put her heart and soul into the 2017 TCS New York City Marathon yesterday and kicked… its… butt!
The NYC Marathon is the biggest marathon in the world with 53,000 runners and two million spectators.
This was Desantis’ first marathon and she finished the 26.2 mile run in four hours and 24 minutes while family and friends cheered her on. Here’s what she had to say.
“Feeling all the feels. 26.2 miles of inspiration, encouragement, resilience, love. Running with people from all walks of life and experiencing so many acts of kindness along the way made my heart full. Seeing my family and friends in the crowd cheering me on motivated me to keep pushing forward. One of the best experiences of my life hands down. Thanks to everyone for the support, from near and far, it meant the world to me! Congrats to all the runners! I ❤️ New York!”
