Mikey Barone has been in the hospital since he was born, 572 days to be exact. But yesterday was his last!
Mikey and his parent’s dream has come true. He was discharged from Oishei Children’s Hospital and they could not be more excited.
“We are so pleased to announce that after 572 long days and nights, Mikey is free,” said Mikey’s mom, Kristine Barone, in a Facebook post. “It has been a long, long journey and we can’t say thank you enough to everyone that works at OCH. So many of you have become like family to us and we know we will never, ever forget any of you. Mikey will come visit soon and he will have lots of hugs, kisses and high 5s for all his buddies. Thank you everyone for all your love and support through all of this. We love you all!”
What staff at the hospital did to say goodbye for him was nothing short of sweet. As Mikey was making his way out of the hospital in his stroller, a line of staff members cheering him on awaited him as he smiled from ear to ear in his rockstar sunglasses and tux!
