Rachel Lofaso, a 16-year-old Iroquois High School student, had her whole life ahead of her. It was sadly taken away on Sunday, Jan. 14 in a tragic car accident in Elma. Family and friends are now doing what they can to keep her memory alive.

“No one ever expects to lose a sibling so soon. I can’t wrap my head around what’s happened & my heart is broken, but I’m finding peace knowing that she was loved by so many,” tweeted Cecilia LoFaso, Rachel’s sister.

Rachel’s friends have been leaving notes and flowers near her locker at school and sharing photos on social media. This tragedy has hit the Elma community hard, but everyone is sticking together to remain strong.

A GoFundMe page has raised $27,000 for the LoFaso Family at this difficult time. www.gofundme.com/love-for-lofaso

Rachel’s boyfriend, Tony Morganti, created a beautiful video in honor of his love.

“Your favorite song, our favorite memories. I’m so sorry Rachel I wish it would’ve been me, you didn’t deserve this. You are my person and I love you around every galaxy and back forever.”

A mass will be held on Sunday in honor of Rachel at 6 p.m. at St. Vincent Church in Elma. A memorial prayer service will follow from 7 to 8 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
