Lydia Dominick, a TV personality who is also known for her very big heart, asked for help on social media today to get a very special person and his dog back home.
Here’s the story.
“Hi friends. I have an odd request. I’m wondering if anyone is driving from New York towards California and could use a bit of extra money for the holidays? Long story- less long; my dad met a homeless vet walking with his dog two years ago. My dad gave him work boots and a job. After a few weeks, Russell and Bear set back off again. Dad never stopped praying for them both. Well Russell called dad during springtime of this year and asked if they walked here if dad would give him a job and a home. Needless to say Russell and Bear have been living on my parent’s property in a camper with full water, sewer and electric for the last nine months. He does farm chores every morning with dad & attends all our family parties/holidays/bridal showers and weddings. However he can’t stay in the camper during winter and we’d like to get them both home to California for the holidays with the family he has left. We don’t want them to walk and he can’t take a bus or a train because he won’t leave Bear. We’re willing to pay your gas plus a precious cargo fee for your trip. God’s blessed us by giving us Russell and we’d like to bless him by getting this once homeless vet, home. He’s a really nice guy who enjoys all foods, cheap beer, classic rock and long walks across America.” #getrussellhome
How amazing is that? We hope Russell gets home very soon!
Editor’a note: Since this article was posted, Lydia found a driver who is an Army veteran herself. She’d like to pay for their gas and food the whole way home and send Russell with some money for Christmas. If you’d like to help Russell, make a donation to: www.gofundme.com/4ppphsg
