The Buffalo community has been shaken since Buffalo Police Officer Craig Lehner went missing Friday during a monthly routine diving training. An emergency situation occurred and the line he was attached to broke and Lehner has yet to be found. It’s a unimaginable outcome for a man who was only trying to protect others, so a local resident is asking for help in supporting one of Buffalo’s own heroes.
“I’m asking that our City of Good Neighbors comes together during this heart wrenching time in our community,” said Amber Scritchfield. “We have done it before, we can do it again.”
Scritchfield is asking residents of the City of Buffalo to replace their porch lights with a blue light bulb in solidarity of Lehner until he is found. She says Buffalo City Hall lit up blue for the officer and city residents can do it, too.
“Let’s show our support for him and all of those involved in the search efforts,” she said. “These brave men and women sacrifice their lives daily and some even volunteer their time putting in countless hours to bring this to closure and find our missing in action dive officer. Let’s show our support and continued prayers.”
