Community coming together to help during medical mask shortage crisis

COVID-19 has left a shortage of many items, but one that medical professionals cannot due without is masks.

Kaleida Health posted on social media about the need for unused non-N95 masks and N95 masks (size regular and small) and Halyard model #46767 and 46867 specifically. However, they will accept any unused mask as well.

During this time, the sewing community is doing everything they can to help. Gina Marie posted on Facebook that she is sewing masks with friends for ENH and Kaleida and encourages others to help.

“If anyone wants to volunteer, we are organizing into an assembly line process. Sew if you can, cut fabric if you can’t sew, drop off finished masks if you have only a little time – we can use any help anyone has to give!

We are all working sperately but coordinating shipping together so we know when to move on to the next facility. So all we need is contact info for each person sewing!

If anyone wants to volunteer please message me(Gina Marie) or Deanna Douglas-Knapp and we will add your name to the list and get you started!

If you know someone who wants to help, but isn’t on Facebook, they can call 716-778-5320 and speak to Sally Schebell Guido.”

Another wonderful person, Lindsay Bessey, is doing the same. She also offered a tutorial video on Facebook. You can watch that here: www.facebook.com/lgdrzazga/videos/10163377290925038/?d=n.
