Western New Yorkers have been super excited that the USS Little Rock has come to the Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park and now the crew took a break from their duties today to give back to children in need.
Members of the USS Little Rock LCS9 stopped by the Oishei Children’s Hospital to visit patients and hand out gifts!
Heather Rust, who has two daughters who belong to the Stone’s Buddies program, was at the hospital today for appointments. Her daughters, Alannah and Gianna, were asked by the woman who runs the program to help her pick something out that they thought the kids would like. The USS Little Rock crew then distributed the gifts to children.
“We helped in between appointments for my daughter. It was a very humbling experience for them,” she said.
How sweet is that?
