According to her daughter, Dianne Strausser of Cheektowaga is a kind woman who taught her to help others at a very young age. Sadly, Strausser is now battling colorectal cancer and has to endure chemo and radiation daily.
Strausser is widowed and lives off social security. Her copay is $60 a day for the months she has treatments, plus labs, CT and PET scans. Her daughter says her mom is in a real bind.
My mom means the world to me. We lost my dad 19 years ago. It was awful. She took care of him and her mother when she was sick. Her twin sister passed two years ago. She helps anyone who needs it. She is a wonderful mom to my brother and I. And has four grandsons who are her world. She is so strong and just so loving,” said Vicky Leader, daughter.
A ‘Kick Cancer’s Butt’ benefit will be held to raise funds for Strausser’s medical expenses at 7 p.m. April 12 at Abbey Square, 784 Wehrle Drive, Williamsville. Leader is asking the community for help in donating baskets and gift certificates to help her mom during this difficult time. Donations can be picked up or sent to Vicky Leader, 3681 Genesee St. Cheektowaga, NY 14225 or by calling 716-204-6820.
