All 4-year-old Bentley Hayden wished for after being diagnosed with cancer for a third time was a black French bulldog puppy. He had to go through chemo and radiation treatments all over again and the only thing that would make him smile were pictures of a very special puppy.
Her name was “Kiki” and she was owned by a family from Darien Center, N.Y. who wanted to gift their puppy to Bentley. That day finally came today and what a beautiful day it was.
“It makes my heart happy just thinking that a little picture could help him stay happy and stay positive and we’ve been waiting for this day for what seems like forever just like they have…just to be able to come pick up Kiki and I can’t wait to see how happy she makes him and how happy she makes the whole family, so I’m just really excited,” said Janelle Lochren, who gifted the puppy to Bentley with her mother-in-law, Jill Lochren.
Janelle’s 8-year-old son, Garrett, was also very excited for the big day. His mom told him how special this day was going to be and he couldn’t wait to make Bentley smile, too.
“God blessed us and we want to bless others and we really want to be nice to him and we want to make his day,” said Garrett.
