It’s a terrible situation for one WNY family.
Tim Pike, a first responder with Lakeview Fire Company, has been suddenly stricken by a debilitating genetic blood disease, and now while playing in the snow on Sunday Dec. 10, his son, Clayton, broke his back.
Now Tim, who is still weak, and his wife are sitting by their son’s hospital bed hoping for the best. Years of rehab lie ahead and wheelchairs, special transportation, equipment and lots of expenses will be this family’s future.
“It’s going to be a long difficult road to recovery for him, but he has a strong personality and still has a full life ahead of him,” said Clayton’s mom in a Facebook post.
A GoFundMe page has been created and the community is asked to support this family at this difficult time. As a first responder, Pike is the one who pulled victims out of burning homes, gave air to crash victims, and held their hands. Now he needs us to hold his.
