A Cheektowaga mom recently reached out in a WNY mom’s Facebook group because her children were having a hard time with the loss of their father.
“My son is 5 and missing his daddy. There’s no way of him being with him ever again. How do you ladies cope? I gave him a big hug and sent him to bed with his favorite pic of them together. This is his first meltdown since he watched his daddy die,” said Jennifer Baker in the post.
Jennifer is a mom to five children. Her husband, Jon “Jay” Baker, passed away on Jan. 28 from Guillaine-Barre’ Syndrome (GBS), a disorder in which the body’s immune system attacks parts of the periphal nervous system. He was found dead in his home, a shock to everyone since he was healing. His children are still understandably upset over the loss and Jennifer is looking for ways to make them smile.
“The baby is too young and the older girls are doing OK. It’s my 5-year-son Jay and his sister, Jessica, who is 6. They are the ones taking this hard,” she said.
Jessica says her kids get so excited when they see mail has come in, so what we at Sweet Buffalo are asking the community to do is to send Jay and Jessica a card to make them smile. Not a sympathy card, just a nice card to let them know that we think they are special and we care!
Cards to Jay and Jessica can be sent to:
